Ambulatory clinical care is expanding, & more patient encounters occur in the outpatient area compared to hospital-based care. One of the causes of a deficiency in patient safety activities within the ambulatory setting are clinician time constraints & smaller organizations not having the resources to dedicate to a patient safety program. This presentation will focus on patient safety events that led to claims & give clinicians tools in which to mitigate patient safety events.
Learning Objectives:
- Examine the importance of clinician involvement in patient safety activities.
- Analyze adverse events resulting from error categories such as human factors, systems, technology, & job design that can lead to healthcare harm.
- Implement risk reduction strategies to decrease error occurrence & improve patient safety.
